the greek language
The Greek language has a history of 3.500 years, starting with the Myceanean documents dating from 1500 B.C. The Greek alphabet originated from the Phoenician one with the novelty of introducing symbols for vowels, and it was in turns the basis of the Latin, Cyrillic, Coptic and other writing systems. Greek was the official language in the Byzantine Empire. It is spoken in Greece and Cyprus.
